Michael Potter
He shot up his life in increments of minutes
Feeling his blood flow, taking its toll
Time being an enemy, a friend, an entity and the measure of life
He watched it evaporate before his eyes
Dissipate with a measured swiftness
Unstoppable, unrecallable, taking its toll
The action of the universe passing before his eyes
The only thing that counted was how he spent his time
And he was seldom able to do it as he wished
Everyone stole pieces of his time
And would not let him spend it as he wanted
He shot up his free time in his own way
To feel like himself again
