Later That Night Jae Rae
They took me to the police station,
They got me something to eat and drink,
They were all so nice,
However they were just doing that because,
Of what had happened earlier,
I knew they all new,
I knew they were all talking about it,
They whispered to one another,
And glanced my way,
I didn’t care,
I just wanted my mother back.
A woman in a brown suit came,
Asked me questions,
She was a social worker she said,
She told me she would find me a lovely home,
Somewhere I would be loved and safe,
I didn’t care where she put me,
I just wanted to get away from all these staring eyes,
She told me told hold on a second as she made a call,
She came back and told me it was time to go,
To where I do not know.
We pulled up into my driveway,
We went and and she held my hand,
The whole time,
We walked into my room,
She found a bag and helped pack my clothes in it,
We were about to leave when I said “hold on!”
I ran to my mom’s room,
And grabbed her Bible, and small jewelry box,
They were her prized possesions,
I put them into my bag and we left.
In the car again the social worker explained,
That she couldn’t put me into a home tonight,
So we would go to a shelter where a lot of kids were,
We got there and it looked like a warehouse to me,
But we went in and I got signed in,
And I put my stuff next to my cot,
And layed down and dozed off,
I was awoken by laughter,
I sat up and saw my stuff being messed with,
And torn up,
By three very large girls.
Despite their size I could not keep my mouth shut,
I jerked my stuff away and put it back in my bag,
Then one girl jerked me up,
Started yelling into my face,
Calling me names,
She then let go and shoved me,
And I fell to the floor,
I got up and my next move was foolish,
I shoved her back,
She then hit me,
And her friends soon joined in,
The people finally pulled them off,
And I layed there in pain,
Then everything went dark.
