That Very Long Night Jae Rae
I use to sit by the window,
Looking out,
Either watching the rain fall down,
Or happy families walk by,
I tried to imagine me,
Somewhere else,
Any where but here.
No matter how hard I tried,
I could still hear momma and daddy,
Fighting as usual,
All the strong words,
Finally my momma would come out,
With a brand new bruise,
We'd go and you'd tell me things would change,
But each time we go back to go through everything once again,
Just to have to go through everything again only worse.
Usually he left me alone unless he wanted something,
Or unless he was really pissed and drinking and you wern't around,
Usually you left me alone,
Maybe once in a while you try to make conversation,
Small chat,
But usually I was left to fend for my myself.
You promised me things would change,
But in my view they are only getting worse.
He hits you again and this time takes it to far,
I can hear you scream, cry and beg through the walls,
Telling him you're sorry,
Even though you did nothing wrong,
He calls you a bunch of filthy names,
And keeps on with his "punishment" he calls it,
Finally it gets quiet,
No more wimpers or cries.
I hear him walking towards my room,
I cover my self with my blanket and try to quiet my fear,
He walks by and I hear him go out,
That night he leaves and never comes back.
As soon as he left I ran to find my you,
I went into you're guys bedroom,
There you were limp on the rug,
There were reddish purple places,
Where you blood from your wounds seeped.
"Mom" I cried,
"He's gone lets leave,"
But you just layed there lifeless,
Not moving a muscle not breathing,
I go to the phone and call the police,
Then I walk back to the room,
Where my you layed,
I put my arms around you and began to cry.
Finally the police arrive,
The put you in a black bag,
Then they took you away,
They ask me questions,
Then they take me away,
Where I go next I do not know.
