Lucem ex tenebris fers

From Darkness You Bring Light

From downcast eyes I catch a glimpse, to steal a look that stills my heart,
And sends a promise deep within, two souls entwined; one breath apart.

Beyond a thousand lifetimes I’ve searched for you in twilight cast,
This bittersweet of longing, remembers you in dreams of past.

Weakened by your presence, these trembling hands belie a need,
To me you are the sun and earth that warms the bud and plants the seed.

For you could not imagine and I could never know,
The seeds you plant in hallowed ground are flowers that I sow.

I cherish all the moments that tendered love’s embrace,
Your words a special love of mine, pays tribute to your grace.

And through your eyes I dream a dream and wonder what you think, in pools of amber, blue and grey the beauty of your eyes, your face.

I wonder how it feels, to place my hand in yours,
To feel the gentle clasping touch,
The racing of my heart implores.

When daylight ends and twilight comes I dream once more of you,
You take my hand and hold it close, my lips to yours, what lovers do.

I do not want to wake from this blissful dream of dreams,
I cannot find the lock and key to open up your heart it seems.

And in these stolen moments I hear your voice so sweet,
The silky press against my ear,
The kindness of a heart held dear.

Impassioned thoughts, chaotic mind, despairing now at every turn,
Icarus flight towards the sun, a moth to flame and wings to burn.

Bring to an end this depth of need and free me from desire,
Quench my thirst with tender kiss, pour rain upon this fire.

I know one day this too shall pass, no longer shall we meet,
Would you recognize these trembling hands if strangers on the street?

I do not want to wake from this blissful dream of dreams,
Without the touch of fingers clasped, no love for me it seems.

I cannot bear the thought of this, sweet sadness to behold,
No right of truth to claim your heart,

This story left untold.
