Dismayed
A dark wave crashes
Across my soul
Awakening something
That has been at rest
Abused
Betrayed
Instinct washes
Away the pain
From deep within
Something long repressed
During times of sorrow
During times of joy
Will I wake tomorrow
Set to destroy or
Will I learn to live
Outside the lines
Without confines
Without designs
Without the fears
That followed me
Throughout the years
They called on me
They battered me
And shattered me
Took hold of me
And tattered me
Yet here I stand
To face it now
The dark wave that
Has held me down
To tie me up
And keep me bound
To hold me back
Without a sound
To slowly take
Away my life
To face me in
This bitter strife
But I will win
Yes, in the end
I will win
My life again
And break apart
The darkest wave
And put it in
It’s wretched grave.
