The dying look of their eyes haunts me to this day,
Life is slipping by in such a painful way,
Their old faces remind me of many years gone past,
Only memories remain that never seem to last,
Their fragile bodies shake with every breath,
As if fearing the slow onslaught of death,
They look out the window at the world they once knew,
Slowly and surely they will see the sky once again turn bright blue,
The sun will warm their skin and turn back the hands of time,
Maybe to a place that never reminds them of this rhyme,
