Tall Witnesses To A Miracle
Rob Badger
Car Speeding, blinker to the right lane, its raining.
The sun has long been down, its midnight
the trees to his right
the only ones to see this site.
The drivers asleep now
his hand slumps to his lap
his foot a weight
the pedal a pillow
accelerating to no where
fate unknown, chance rare.
Driver dreams of wife
shes gone
heart attack a while back
its been long
Lightning strikes and his exit is near
a tree falls
hes alssep, unaware, unable to fear.
The driver continues to dream and his wife is there
he feels a grip on his shoulder and jerks awake,
hes scared.
His wife next to him
a passenger in a miracle.
"Slow down, its raining Im always here this is real"
wrenches his eyes from his wife
swerved passed the tree
"she saved my life"
He looks back quickly
and she is gone
was she really there?
his faith is strong.
