DESCRIPTION
This is about how a person can be in conflict with certain human emotions. I gave human emotions a more literal approach. Written when I was 14. [350 words]
ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica for 12 years. Then I lived in New York City for 3 years, until I somehow ended up back in Jamaica and lived there for 5 years. (By now you should have guessed my age) I am currently a college student in the US majoring in sociology and a minor in English. I love writing very much but since I returned to the US I have found it rather difficult to re-ignite that flame and passion that I had for writing. Hopefully as I post my work in Storymania, I can receive constructive criticism, or reviews of my work. I welcome negative reviews of my work because I feel this can help me to make my writing better. Things like, “this poem sucks!” or “I don’t understand anything you are talking about in this writing,” I welcome with open arms. I have traveled around, and have numerous experiences as it relates to the environment in which I’ve lived in. I admire diversity and culture, and hopefully someday, my admiration and interest in the various ways in which people live their lives can influence me more profoundly to reach out to people. I feel that writing is a way to start and gives me a chance to cut across borders and transcend across the continents, across ethnicity and race. Especially since I attend a university that is historically white, and 90% of the students are white middle-class Americans and I myself is of African descent. My passion for diversity increases the more I am in this kind of environment.

I'm Lazy. Jahri Ann
I’m lazy and there isn’t a thing you are going to do about it
Motivation is a midget to me, it’s nothing
I’ll stuff that midget in a garbage can and kick it down the street
I’ll never listen to what it says
Stomp on it too
Think I care.
I’m lazy.
Goal is a desirable monster that just waits for you a while
It’s devil eyes, vicious claws, dirty sharp teeth.
Then it goes when you don’t come to it.
Because it’s scared.
It keeps saying the words…
Come! Come! You’re a step closer! I can’t go to you! You have to come to me! Don’t give up!
I’m not going anywhere,
It’s nothing, it cannot touch me and it doesn’t scare me
I wish it could come to me
See what I am made of
I’ll beat the carp out of it
I’m lazy.
Looks is a walking label, it’s nothing to me
IT changes from beast, to Fairy god mother, to Santa, to walking dead
It’s just there to make them think somewhat of me
It’s there for nothing
It keeps people away from me
Then it changes and keeps people near me
Looks doesn’t know what it wants
I’m lazy.
I don’t care about looks
As I was saying
Things come to me and I don’t come to them
I don’t care what you say you’re not helping
Work is a devilicious machine that as nothing else to do but torture you
It wants you to do what it tells you to do
I’m not doing anything
Work as got to work for me
I’m not working for that bastard
Love is a bitch
It’s so miserable and when you try to comfort it
It pushes you away
Leave me alone it says!
Then it comes running back for help
It makes you feel like you’re worthless
It has a personality disorder
And yet you still want it
Love cannot take control of me
It’s a parasite; it goes anywhere it wants to go
But I’ll take love and hit it so hard, it’ll go flying off into space
B*tch.
I’m lazy.
Lazy is everything to me
I love it so much no one is going to stop me
It keeps me feeling the way I want
It makes me feel so good
It’s better than everything
But it betrayed me and left me stranded
Lazy I hate your guts
