The Young Soldier by the Window
A young Soldier is sitting by the Window
Looking and thinking of what awaits him
when his plane lands.
He knows he's trained, he knows his mission
but at 18 war is hard to understand.
Silently he peers out and vividly before
him, he sees mama in the kitchen
praying on her knees.
He knows she's praying for him
and it puts his mind at ease
Still, he could feel his stomach rumble
from the nervousness inside
He didn't grumble or complain
The fear he chose to hide.
Going to a place far, from his little
Countryg home town
What was he going into
Would he let his buddies down?
A lot of things this young man thought
as he looked out the window at the
pure , blue sky
He pondered about many things
and quietly ask God Why?
While in his prayer he looked out the
window one more time and saw
A Crowd of Soldiers on a Cloud
He rubbed his eyes in awe.
He saw what must've been a thousand
Soldiers, in misty clouds of Gray
One Soldier Marched to the front line
and the young Soldier heard him say.
Son, I know it's scary, I'd be a liar
if I said it's not
I was scared myself, I marched tired, long
and hot.
Son, I know your missing your home
God knows I miss mine too.
You feel your all alone but we ride
along with you.
For we didn't die in vain son, do you
hear the Drummer's Drumming?
They can't stop us or defeat us
We march on, and we keep coming!
Now son, believe in your abilities and
your mama's earnest prayers
Because of her, you have a vision
of Soldiers spirits in the air.
So, now I have to go son, a grand
ceremony awaits
See, our Commander and Chief is
waving old glory, over yonder
by the pearly gates!
Son, your gonna make it through this
battle, cause your never, ever, alone
For God is still the Master
And Us Soldiers, Still march on!
