Unworthy Kira Carlee
And the words of a warrior mean little to me
For how is it that fighting gets us free
Is it freedom we earn with so many deaths
Freedom worth those last breaths
Release from another’s control perhaps
But there are far worse traps
We battle without meaning, without heart, without soul
Raising rifles on steady drum roles
The pounding on eardrums blanks out all thought
About those the rising death toll already caught
Words of a warrior are unworthy of mine ears
Unfit for mine eyes rimmed with wet tears
Valiant is said of uniformed men
Whose callused hands grip rifles again and again
Honored and honest, descriptions so tell
As they stroll off with weaponry and a final farewell
Yet ironic it is, this naïve thought
That angelic they stand for having fought
And killed with bullets strangers of views
Simply different than those we so choose
How noble of them to preserve the peace
By checkmating the lives of another chess piece
