The Fallen
R Duncan

To the fallen

They lie in the fields
they lie in the streets
they're dressed in their uniforms
their hearts do not beat

They've given up their family's
they've given up their lives
they've given up their children
they've given up their wives

They go to foriegn lands
they have no choice or say
the government commands
it's the price they have to pay

All those brave young soldiers
be they woman be they man
sent out to defeat the enemy
sent to give the best they can

For some they give their limbs
for some they give their sight
for some they leave a widow
to be lonely every night

Oh my God I pray for those soldiers
their family's friends and kids
I pray you guard and protect
as they do as they are bid

I pray for angels to surround them
those women and those men
to take them safely through their tour
and bring them home again.
