Everybody has to die but no one lives to tell about it. Very few have been closed to death, and felt it, but no one has experienced what I lived through. I would call it resurrection. Or isn’t it? Or is it just that I am living dead? But still I came back from the death for a worthless cause.
It all began when I was planning out to go out with a friend, to see show that was being held close-by. The only problem was that my friend a boyfriend who was really jealous to me and would love to beat me up. Which would be possible because he was two years older that me. The presentation would start at seven at night and it was just three o’clock. He called her to see what she would do that night and to invite her to go to the same show. She told him that she would have a family dinner since we had the tickets ready. We were cool about it so we left hoping he would not be there.
We got there and he was nowhere to be seen. We sat down and enjoyed the show. Soon she tried to call the guy but he would not answer the cell phone. She began to get nervous because he would have to be in a theater or in some place where he would have to turn off the phone. Maybe he could be just inside the theater where we were.
Once the show was over we began to walk out, when suddenly someone familiar called my friend. I whirled around and saw him standing in front of her. I stayed behind watching them carefully because he seemed to be drunk. I waited a few minutes until they began to argue intensively. I crept closer in-between the crowd of people so he would not see me. But it was useless, as soon as my movement towards them caught his eye, he stared at me with anger. He stopped arguing and stepped towards me as if to hit me. She stopped him by grabbing his arm but he turned around and shouted out some stuff at her and then hit her in her face. She fell to the floor crying. I couldn’t stand it and swung upon him. Then the trouble began.
He fought back, throwing me to the floor indefensibly. I attempted to stand up and hit him but a leg kicked me in my back, harming me deeply. His friends who were also drunk had arrived and were helping him out. All I could feel were stabs all around my body. Soon I fainted.
I began to see a light in front of me, a very strong one who was driving me out of my body. I fought back but still it was useless, I was dying and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I didn’t understand what was going on until I heard a voice who called out for me saying that my mission was not done and that I had to go back. I didn’t understand his words but I obeyed.
I opened my eyes and my parents were staring at me with anxiety. I was laying on a bed in a hospital room with an artificial respirator, a bunch of machines, and a broken arm. My whole body had been wounded intensively and scars filled my body. I didn’t know how had I got there but still the fact was that I was alive and it was a miracle. I knew I owned my life to the one who had picked me up who had probably been a maintenance person from the place.
After a month of recuperation I went back to school. Everybody cheered as soon as they saw me. I was glad of being back until I saw my friend hugged up by the guy who had almost killed me. In that moment I understood the meaning of my life and my mission. I was meant to Suffer.

"The story showed how life can seem horrible at times. It shows how difficult it is to understand some of the dicisions that people make. for example how his friend was still with the guy that nearly killed him. The relationships of the friends could be made a little bit more clear. The short story was well written with a good theme." -- Tim Brinkman, Springfield, Illinois, United States.
