Friendship, Oblivion
Skyler Drevan

We used to date a lot, but now we have a distance between us. I think we are still friends, I know we wanted to remain very good friends but these days we have this rule about “touching” and getting too close. That must be the reason why every time I put my arm around her, she screams. Not like in the horror movies, but a scream like she is uncomfortable. Sometimes it reminds me of a hateful kind of scream. The kind you’d hear if I had killed something in front of her. She never liked me killing any kind of creature. She was a seriously stern advocate for animals and insects, even the ones that gross me out.

When she is upset, she is really an ugly person. When she is drinking or partying too hard; she reminds me of Mommie Dearest herself, Joan Crawford. She is a really nasty person at times, even when I am not touching her, but I cannot keep away from her. She and I were meant to be friends, at one point I thought we were meant for more, but obviously we were not. Whatever! I like her when I am drunk and even more when I am sober. I like her when she is rowdy and when she is nice, although I hate it when she is talking to other guys.

She reminds me of my sister from time to time. Other times she reminds me of my mother, how I miss her so much some times. I never knew that she had cancer until a month before she passed away. Why she didn’t tell any of us is still a question I ask myself all the time. Like my mother, she is very secretive and do not divulge anything unless asked. I suppose that is one of the reasons why I still haven’t met her parents. Well, I guess there’s nothing left to say. We get along sometimes and other times we are not too forthcoming. I love her but sometimes I don’t like her. When she gets on my nerves, I just lean in on her and place my arm around her shoulders. At least that way we are both upset.
