He was a janitor at a big law firm. His shift was about to be over. He finished off his last sweep, and he put all of the cleaning equipment away. He took the elevator from the twelfth floor to the main lobby on the first floor. He went out the front door and locked it. He didn’t have a car, there were no buses at this hour, and a taxi was out of the question. He wasn’t paid enough for that. He began to walk towards his home. The street lights began to turn off and on. He felt odd, cold, not because it was night, but a different cold, a dead cold. As he was walking he heard some foot steps some ways away behind him. He turned to see who it was. No one was there, just the flickering lights and the sound of the crickets singing there toon. He turned back with a worried look on his face. He began to walk and again he heard the footsteps. Now they were closer. He turned around and again there was no one. He began to feel very uneasy. He turned back around and began running. He heard the footsteps getting closer and closer and finally it was right behind him. “Who are you?!” he scram as he turned to face his stalker. There was no one there. He turned back around trying to study his breath. The lights began to rapidly flicker and when he looked up he saw a man reaching out, trying to grab him. “Ahhh!” he scram. He almost fell as he turned around to run the other way. As he ran he was thinking of an alternet rout to his house, he would turned left on the next block. He turned the corner and stopped. There in the flickering lights was his stalker. He turned again to cross to the next block when again he saw the figure. He looked to his left, it was clear. He began to run. He kept having to figure out which way to go. Finally he reached a police station. He entered and scram for someone to help him. “Pleas help me, somebody.” “Calm down sir, what’s wrong?” asked the policemen, placing his hand on his shoulder to calm him down. “Someone is following me.” “Ok sir, now just calm down. What's your name?” “John Colvin.” “John Colvin?” asked the policemen, looking surprised. “Yes, why? What's wrong?” “We just received a report that a very dangerous criminal, had broken in to your house.”
