The True Story Of The Little Red Riding Hood
Nicolette Cone

The Little Red Riding Hood. They make her sound so
sweet, don't they? Oh, the little antics the press
can come up with. The Little Red Devil is more like
it. You are probably wondering why I sound so bitter
towards this "sweet girl". Well, this is because
in the story of The Little Red Riding Hood, there was one
thing missing, and that was the truth.

Before I get started, let me introduce myself to you
all, I am Jeremiah T. Wolf and I was falsely accused
for the death of Little Red Riding Hood's granny. I
am here to tell my side of the story. All I ask of
you is that you keep an open mind.

It all started a year ago, one gloomy morning. Well
actually, it was bright and shiny, I was gloomy because
I was running out of money and needed a job. The
previous day, I had gone to the bank to apply for a job
as a teller. I didn't even get to fill out my application,
when they turned me down. They said that no one would
ever trust a wolf. I only realize now how much truth
there was to that. In any case, as I was going through the
morning paper, I saw an ad. "WOLF WANTED" it read. I
realized how very well I fit the description. They couldn't
turn me down! So I called the number, and to my surprise,
a little girl picked up the phone. I asked her what the job
entailed. She said that all I needed was big, sharp
teeth. I, being a wolf, had just that.

The next day I met the little girl at a cafe. She told
me that this was a one time deal. I wasn't sure what
she meant. So, I asked her what exactly I was supposed
to do. She looked at me with devilish eyes and said,
"Kill my Granny!" I was outraged! Yes, I needed a job
but I wasn't about to kill a sweet, old Granny just to put
food on the table. I asked the little girl, "Why on earth
would you want anyone to do that?" She said, "That woman drives
me crazy! Cookies here, cookies there! Enough! I won't bake
anymore cookies! I even tried to give her an overdose of sugar,
hoping it would lead to a heart attack, but no. All she wants are
cookies! She's 167 and still out jogging. I can't wait for her
just to drop dead." This little girl was a brat. I felt really bad
for her Granny, all she probably asks for is a basket full of cookies,
at her old age. But I, having many place to go and many people to
see, wasn't about to teach this kid a lesson. So, I declined from
the job and went on my way.

However, disturbed by the thought of the little girl wanting to kill
her poor old Granny, I decided to go back to the café and give her
a piece of my mind. When I reached the café, not even twenty minutes
had past, I saw the little girl talking to yet another wolf! Can you believe
that? But it’s true! Wolf’s honor! So, I went a little bit closer to
get a good look at this wolf and listen in on the conversation. Not to my
surprise, it was Alexander T. Wolf. Yes, the same wolf that ate the three
little pigs! To top it all, he wrote his own book called, The True Story
of The Three Little Pigs, which was, did I mention, a complete lie! He just
used it as a publicity stunt to get out of prison. Ah, what media can do
nowadays. That Alexander T. Wolf, what a disgrace to our kind. He gave all
wolves a bad name after he ate those pigs. Did I mention, that he was also
the wolf that ate the boy in the story, The Boy That Cried Wolf? That wolf
just really sets me off. Now, he was going to kill Granny. I could not
and would not let this happen.

Once I was able to gather the details of their plot, I decided to disrupt
their plan. I could not let an innocent woman die. What do you think I
am? A fox? Plus, if I saved the Granny, people will begin to trust me
and maybe, just maybe I'll be able to the job as a teller at the bank.

The day had finally come; I was finally going to be a hero. Everything
was going according to plan. I was on time, and it looked like I was
going to be able to disrupt their plan. I got into my car and started
to drive to Granny’s house. On the way over, something terrible had
happened. An old woman was crossing the street when a car drove right
into her. To top it all the driver casually drove away. Can you believe
the nerve of that guy?! So, I, being the noble wolf, that I am, did the
right thing. I quickly got out of my car and rushed this poor old lady
to the hospital. She survived and thanked me for everything I had done.
She told me that she would never expect anyone to do what I had done,
especially a wolf. I felt proud of myself; I may not have changed the
world’s perspective on wolves. But at least I changed one sweet old lady’s
perspective. Hopefully, by the end of the day I’ll be able to save Granny,
and change the names of wolves forever. Speaking of Granny, Oh no Granny!
I had completely forgot! I hope she is still alright! I rushed to Granny’s
house but I was too late. Alexander had already eaten Granny! Though on the
plus side, Little Red Riding Hood wasn’t there yet. What was I going to do?
Alexander was already lying in Granny’s bed, pretending to be her!
I had to face it, I couldn’t save Granny any longer. However there was
something I could do. Make sure that Little Miss Riding Hood and that wolf
get the punishment they deserved. So, I tied Alexander to the bed.
Then, I ran to the phone to call the cops. At that moment little red riding hood,
walked in and said, “You’re too late Jeremiah Wolf”. “I already called the cops.”
“But…but how did you know I was here?” I said. “I knew you’d betray me, somehow
find away to disrupt all my plans. Well, I guess you just can’t trust a wolf.”
Can you believe her? She was accusing ME of betraying her and being
untrustworthy. Excuse me, but I’m not the one trying to kill my Grandmother here!
My Golly! What was I to do now! The cops won’t listen to me. I’m a wolf.
They’ll listen to the kid who is obviously going to frame me! Ah ha, I still had
one rather large and stinky piece of evidence… Alexander T. Wolf! I ran into
the bedroom and again NOT to my surprise, he was gone.

Before I knew it, I was in a four by four cell. I have been ordered the death
penalty and only have a few moments left. All I want is the truth to prevail.
That is why I have given you the burden of knowing my sad, sad story which
I hope you will share with somebody else. I am not Alexander T. Wolf.
I am not a liar. I am not a crook. I am not a murderer. I am not
anything that I was accused of. I am simply a noble wolf, who wanted to do
a good deed… as a citizen. I am an honest wolf with nothing to lose, hoping
that I will be remembered as a noble wolf and not as another big, bad wolf.
I am Jeremiah T. Wolf and this is my story (not Alexander’s).
