The Clock Bernadette (Some Call Me
The ticking grows louder
And louder…
Time seems to slip away
And only fear is obvious
Your ear is pressed against the wall…
Listening intently for the sound…
Of anything that could save your life.
The ticking enters your head
Knocking on your brain as if it were a door
Your heart pounding faster than a train
Your body trembling as you think
If anybody can save me…
It would be too late.
Your breathing pace quickens
The ticking stops
You slump to the ground and wait for the boom…
Nothing happens!
You look around frantically, searching for an explanation…
Anything would be an explanation…
You see a large clock staring back at you…
It was only the clock.
The clock..
Those two words burn in your mind…
It was the clock…
The clock
You start to sob..
A breakdown about nothing…
Nothing but a clock..
A simple
Limited Edition
One of a kind clock.
Come to think of it…
Who gave you that clock?
Or,
How did it get here?
Something urges you to examine it.
You take it off its hook.
You flip it over and examine very closely
The back of it.
It says “Made in the Military Academy.
After fifteen years, this will self-destruct.”
You think about this.
How long have you had this clock for?
What, about fifteen years.
Wait, fifteen years!!
Maybe it’s not been exactly fifteen years.
Just throw it out the window.
Suddenly a bug flies over to you and bites you on the arm.
You wake up, to find your cat dabbing at your arm.
You look around the room.
Then, you spot a clock just like the one before…
