“He was with me for such a short time yet he was with me. He came in my life just like a rainbow, made it colorful then vanishes” She murmurs. I face to her. The long black hairs were traveling around her narrow face. The mole in her prominent cheek is shining. She has dark narrower eyebrows; thin eye lid with black eye lashes .The slender woman possesses a pair of violent and venomous eyes. Between them there is the depressed nose. She has burnt her 25 springs in search of a true love until she met with my friend. The dimple in her cheek has made people crazy. I dare not look at. She is walking with me and she is digging out her memories the sweet memories of her life with my friend. She is the clinical psychologist of the local hospital but she has failed to read the mind of my friend. My friend Dr. Romen Haider is a moon faced man. No, he is not suffering from Cushing’s syndrome. He is tall, slim with browner skin. His red lips are like petals of rose so soft and delicate to touch. He is always gleeful and laughing. He is an optimist. “When did you last meet him?” I ask the lady without raising my face. She answers slowly “just the day before he left the hospital, let’s calculate 135 days back, be more specific 3240 hours, 486000 seconds enough time for him to forget me. O dear! He left me just like his other girlfriends .I heard about him, about his girlfriends from my colleagues. During the last winter the hospital selected him as a consultant rheumatologist and I was also selected as a clinical psychologist for a seven days training program on main management. On the day of the training he came to my office and told me that I need not drive so far, we can go there together in his car. He was impressive. I failed to refuse him. There begins the wrong journey .He began to engulf me with his attractive attitude, with this brilliant ideas, with his compliments. Emotion exceeds logic I lost my mind but he didn’t. He received his transfer order. He left me just like as his old shirt that he had left aside without any attention, without any regret of leaving behind. I am only a shirt. Which one do you leave first a pant or a shirt?’’ “I never enjoy leaving my beloved things. Time is merciless. We can’t wear the torn fade shirt or pant. So I keep them in another wear drop and sometimes I became sad thinking about them.” “I am now fading becoming the torn one. Yes he should look for a new one.” “Tears are reflecting in her big eyes. She tries to mask her sorrow by her mystic smile. Every cloud has a silver lining but why does a smile in such a beautiful face carry the hue of suffering, the pain of loss? “Please don’t take it in that way. I didn’t mean that. I’m sorry I should say the line. Please don’t be upset. I will try my level best for you and Romen.” “Do you think I have become a beggar for his love?” “A true love should make the person beggar.” Her sound is becoming faint, “do you think he loves him as much as I do?” Now what should I say? What is right for me? Should I tell her to give him up? He loves someone else. He is great but she is greater. He has the best smile to impress but the girl has strength to sustain. Her name is Dr. Pretty Sarder. I have not heard about her name until my friend mentioned it to me about three months back. He told me about her, about their journey of love, about their world of passion where I have never entered. He told to me about so many girls that she means nothing special that was no new incident of his life. But he was wrong. The night has engulfed the evening; the golden light of twilight is now over. The world is becoming dark; the dark of the night deepens. The stars are twinkling. We keep a wall between us as we go. Yes, good fence to make a good neighbor. We are walking without any destination, without any urgency to reach any where. Just walking through the road to walkout the time. It is the night I have read in of fairy tales. The full moon is in corner of the sky rising with its glamour. The waters of the pond glitters with tiny shining ripples. The air is mild with that kind of penetrating warmth that enervates till we are ready to faint deeply affected without any apparent cause. But what is about the heart? It is becoming so sensitive so passionate that I can feel the tachycardia. And her heart should beat faster then mine. She is in love with my friend and she is searching his face in that round moon now. “How is your friend” she asks I reply, “fine but without you.” “Without me, what?” she becomes flushed. “Without you he is incomplete. He needs you in morning to get up from the bed. He needs you for his jogging, for his driving. He needs you to concentrate or to loss concentration. He needs you for his launce, for his dinner. He needs you for going to bed, having a sound sleep .He needs you even for his dream. He needs you for everything. You don’t know how much he loves you. He loves you today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow. Yes he has many girl friends but he does not love anyone more than you. Please call him again, let me call him, let me try to make you closer to his heart.” she smiles looking at her mobile. Let the fire begin. The Nokia starts beeping I begin “hi dear. How are you? Yes, I have joined in the hospital. She has handed over the charge to me and now here she is. Please talk to her, she needs you. Don’t laugh .it is not a matter of joke. It is moonlight feel her heart still beating for you”. I give her phone. There is no darkness in the world but only mysterious shadows. The moonshine is tangled in the hedge and stretch in the shadow cobweb from spray to spray. In spite of the ivory tinned moon that is ruling the world, the sky is full of stars. How close they seem to be but how far they are! Everyone is lonely. Is their loneliness killing them? Do they shine in a broken heart? If they can, then why not man? A piece of cloud is passing over the moon. I look at her. She is shining under the light of the sexy moon. The clouds are no longer covering the moon. I think her heart is beating fast, her blood pressure is rising with emotion and the brain is working for dream. Her face is becoming brighter then the moon. “Is he coming to you?” She replies “No he asked me to go. Rivers have to go towards the sea. But he is not my destiny anymore. I should not force him to love me. I am not ready to see him again. Everything looks beautiful from distance- this sweet moon, the mighty sun. We should carry some pain for life. Life without pain is most painful. Thank you for everything you did tonight. It is 2 A.M. I should go to the room. I would like to set sail in the morning.” Yes the fascinating night is passing out. She must go. Most of the people are dreaming or trying to have a sweat dream. She says, “Goodbye.” I reply “ May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, a man in moonlight to walk, laughter to cheer you, may those you love bring love back to you, may all the wishes you wish come true. God should be with you.” I start my car and looking at the sky. The moon is still smiling. It matches with something else very close to me. I can feel it in my heart. I have to murmur to the soft wind and to the moon, “She was with me for such a short time, yet she was with me”.
