AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (18) Autumn Winchester (Poetry) Just lyrics for my band, that's all. [156 words] Broken Beat (Poetry) A pointless poem, but I like it. Being a fan and creator of it and making it myself. For this poem. I had no major influences. [117 words] Houston's City Limits (Songs) This is almost a drift from "Damn, That Kid's Got Style". Between Your Smiles And My Regrets Tim D Ryan
“Between Your Smiles And Regrets”
Ten years ago we threw out a promise,
to ‘stay forever, stay together-through the worse’.
Five years ago we met someone new,
we reinstated, we separated, gave ourselves away.
Now I see a photograph, an episode from ten years past,
but between your smiles and my regrets,
I always thought it was the best.
(Now like strangers, we smile on the street.)
(We hardly hear our whispers, collide with concrete.)
Against shuffled feet, a stare and a grin,
between your smiles and my regrets.
Four years ago the note bled ink,
I found out, I was headed overseas, to greet cliché.
Somehow, someway, these stairs still look the same.
Somehow, the best day, was when we went our separate ways.
…And now I see a photograph, an episode from ten years past,
but between your smiles and my regrets,
I always thought it was the best.
To be with someone just like you,
To hold hands like children used to.
‘Cause:
Ten years ago we threw out a promise,
to ‘stay forever, stay together-through the worse’.
When things got wet…I found my regrets
(Somehow, someway, these stairs still look the same!)
(Somehow, someway, these stairs still look the same!)
(Somehow, someway, these stairs still look the same…)
…nowadays we talk like strangers, despite all those memories…
