'ms. America' Pearl S
There she goes, she's Ms. America,
See her smile, hear her song...
There she goes, surrounded by adoration,
Oh, she's Ms. America...for how long?
Charming, witty, the essence of cool
Ironed straight hair, they're all under her rule
Designer clothing and she's so beautiful
Isn't she beautiful?
Fairy tale wonderful
Trying to blend in so desperately
Don't you see
Desperately
Hopelessly clinging to the fame slipping away...
There she goes, she's Ms. America
Nervous smile and shaky song
There she goes, she's Ms. America
America
But no one's looking, the spotlight is
Gone
For awhile nobody saw her
Ain't on the street
Ain't at her home
So we all went and we forgot about her
Found a new queen
On a new throne
Of ideals that could never be
A painted unreality
Yeah for sure a long forgotten legend
Seems to me in the end
Beauty and Perfect ain't what Ms. America is.
Beauty and perfection aren't America's.
And then one day one day
She reappeared a backlash trend
Her face is pale and drawn.
Her mouth is cold, her eyes are dead.
She's wearing clothes and signs that say
In sixteen different ways
Stay the hell away.
Her smile is sickeningly false
Her song is bitter broken notes
She looks so fragile skin and bones
Since she started starving herself
Her words are black and burning and they make you want to
Want to scream....
There she goes, all eyes turn as she walks through the door.
Their looks are not of admiration of gaping they do not adore.
They nod a silent confirmation, acknowledgement beyond a doubt
That bitter hate filled empty shell she's Ms. America now.
Ain't that what we're all about?
She's Ms. America now.
That's our Ms. America
America
There she goes...now...
