The La Jolla Cove

A treasure trove of silver and gold
down by the cove
down by the cove

Where lovers sun and children swim
down by the cove
down by the cove

But some there are who’ll never be
splashing and laughing in luxury

For money’s short and life is grim
down by the cove
down by the cove

And lounging and bathing is fantasy,
fit for the rich and their privileged sons,
not for the poor and the disheartened ones
who watch from afar in bleak dismay
at the end of another vainglorious day

down by the cove
down by the cove
