Curious
you gave up the one you love
not certain you did the right thing
even your prayers weren’t answered
seems there was no one home above
your mind told you go
your heart said no, stay
the memories keep haunting
almost every day
it couldn’t be and you know it
but you let yourself get carried away
an escape to a fantasy
that turned into a reality
gave your heart and soul
it captured your total being
thought now you would be whole
but in the cruel light of day
you had to say
it just couldn’t be
and it hurts
