A Message To The Exile
Martin Milner

Black, scabby dog in a run-down street
Shunned by all you pound the beat
Of life's dictates.

Nose to the ground for affection's heat
Attentive ears to any call
Should any day you chance to meet
Someone beyond this fog.

Till then you run, a shadow of night
Exiled but struggling on
The loner fearing the light
A spectre of yourself.

Now left alone to snarl and bite
All those future plans have gone
While calmly foundering in your plight
Unobserved, oblivious, you come.
