ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I live in Scotland with my family and work as a freelance writer.

I have written poetry since I was a child but have never seriously attempted publications because of the personal nature of poetry and my tendency at times to inhibit the exploration of human expression.

This is gradually changing as I let myself be open to the potential of this expression.

Burn Out
Alan T Geake

Take consolation
Your life no longer de-energises
From the blood sucking parasites
Who stripped
Pieces of your flesh
On to their feeble existence

They will move on
To richer pickings
Leaving you to re-activate
Spend some time in the clinic
Converse unilaterally
Until your dust settles

It is all self inflicted
The image became the substance
Leaving you a distant memory
The music dissipates
While the money and power
Forge your greatness

It came to an end
With age, with anxiety
Without a doubt it would expire
Moving fans on to the next symbol
Providing space
To nurse your wounds

Strangely
The public and private
Persona
Were at conflict
With the Oedipus complex.
Creating a seductively
Deadly cocktail.
