Cry When I Smile.
Trish Mallen

I am a very tire woman, and tired in every possible way.
I have been broke, burned, and left to die a million times so far
Every road I end up on just leads to more disarray.
No one ever sees me, crawling through the dark
No one ever hears me.
I can’t be myself because that never seems to work.
One day I know that God will take away this hurt.
I have to be everywhere and smile when I cry.
This world just does not want me here, but it is too soon for me to go.
My angels, my darlings, the diamonds of my life
They need my arms, my voice, my time, so how could I leave them?
I could never leave them here alone to live like this.
So I will smile when I cry.
I am weak and I don’t want to be although I know no other way.
Never have I stood alone to face the coming day.
But really I have been alone for a long time now for sure.
I just want what everyone, every woman wants. To be wanted.
To be held, to be loved, to be cared for, to be needed.
It that really something that happens? I am just not sure.
This person I am is so tired of being someone that I am not.
Tired of trying to read minds, tired of being the enemy.
I just want someone who will love me. He just won’t.
