Desk Lunch Part 6 D G Williford
She looked down at the crumpled form and laughed...
These were the people that she saw every day,
that she had been to lunch with, celebrated birthdays with,
worked through budgets with, gossiped with and she was
looking at them for the first time.
Why were their eyes so glassy and open?
Why didn't they have anything witty to say?
Why weren't they saying, "Williford, we need to do lunch
and talk over that new proposal."
All she saw was nonresponsive corpses that refused
to talk back to her.
Was this what it had come to?
She kicked Trey and his big fat ass just did the jelly roll.
He wasn't breathing the foul air of oppression anymore.
She walked out of the building and tossed her Fish and More into
the trash...
Smoke filled the air and for once in a long while,
her mind was clear.
