Destiny Briony Carvalho
The paint peels slowly from the walls of her mind
She tries to cover the cracks with her hands
Huddled back on the floor the futility hits her and she lets him
Again and again and again
Tendrils of dirty fog creep into her and slow her movements
She knows her life is happening without her
Senses numb she scrapes her nails down her arm to feel alive
Again and again and again
A trickle of light snakes in through the attic burning her skin
She fears the change, crawls deeper into the corner
The room ever expanding, the door getting further away
Further and further and further
A blast of light and she’s thrown blinking and gasping for air into a bright white room
The walls are new and clean and each holds a hundred doors
Destiny is there behind one of the heavy doors, a glowing light seeping from under the cracks
The way back a twirling slide into the familiar gloom
Which one
