For a moment, hope bathed me in the warmth of deception
Where all things seemed possible.
For a moment, my soul unfurled fragile petals,
reaching for the healing light.
For a moment, fantasy was reality, and reality a cruel lie
past agonies fading from memory like a tattered shroud
For a moment, you lifted me from despair
Only to cast me screaming, back into the crucible.
And now
The darkness will be worse having stood for a moment in the light.
