no fences high enough
to keep the lion caged
safe inside the yard...
safe behind the wooden gates
of a green pickett fence
was mother's safety net
for her to keep me safe
but i no longer feel the same
she's trying to keep up
with me as i run
here outside the yard...
still i run to see how far
i can make it on my own
maybe even cross the road
because
those fences aren't enough
for her to try to keep up
