Floaters D G Williford
Floaters
I see them. What do they want from me?
A dark flash in the corner of my eye
They torment me with their constant attacks
Their oiled and feathered wings
Swooping just out of my grasp
I am reading a book
And they decide to play
I am cleaning the toilet
And they barrage me with their rancid breath and crooked fangs
When I take a shower they slither in the door and watch me
Waiting for me to be caught unaware
So they can grab my throat and tear it open with their dirty claws
I can hear them breathing as they lay on my bathroom rug
It is an ancient breath, a greedy breath, an angry breath
I was reaching for the faucet when the attack came

"Reminds me of screaming so loud that you shatter your brain and see little silver/sparkly flashes and dots all around you! Nice work D.G. ("Of Love and Of They Compassion" is a must read since you enjoyed 'Cellar Door'...)" -- Reagan Rothe.
