Girl Downstairs Alice W-M
As I stared at the gone fishin’ sign in the office of Mrs. Happy-peppy I couldn’t help but wonder what I had got myself into.
“Right, Daisy, is it?” she asked.
“Actually it’s...”I was interrupted.
“Well we have 5 jobs to give out, what do you think will get you one of them?” She asked.
“Um... I have 6 a* G.C.S.E.’s and 3 A levels?” I said.
“Well that’s very nice but do you think you would fit in here?” she asked me looking at my short skirt and halter-neck top. Of course, I knew I wouldn’t fit in with these freaks! I put on my best fake smile.
“Yes I’m very happy with working in an office people” I said.
“Okay well then I think you have the job but we just have one more interview then we can make our decision” she said.
I got up and walked out of the room. I looked around myself and realised that if I did come and work here I would probably end up in rehab. I took out my mobile and called John. He’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember.
“Hey, how’s it goin’?” he said
“Fine, fine, I might just get the job this time!” I replied pretending to sound pleased
“Great,” he said sarcastically “d’ya wanna celebrate?” he asked
“Yeah, that would be cool”
“Ok. I’ll meet you at the cinema at 8”
“Kay, see ya!” I hung up.
Later that evening the door bell rang. I opened it and expected to see john standing there but it was a girl I didn’t know.
“Hi” she said, “I’m Amy I live downstairs and I wanted to introduce myself” she looked tired. She had long greasy hair that looked as tough it hadn’t been washed for weeks and was wearing a top with so many stains on that it might have been thrown in a garbage can and it wouldn’t have looked any different. She reminded me of me when I had just arrived in the city.
“Hi, I’m just going out with my friend, you look like you could use a night out, do you want to come?” I asked.
“Sure, but I should probably find out your name first!” she said with caution.
“I’m ghost, well, that’s what my friends call me”
“Cool, um do you have a shower? I can’t use mine ‘cause it keeps spraying out brown sludge instead of water”
“Yeah it’s just through there” I said. I’m not the kind of person who would usually let a stranger use their shower but this girl looked like she really needed it. Just as she was coming out of the shower John knocked on the door.
“Do you wanna borrow some clothes?” I asked Amy, she nodded and disappeared into my room to change. I answered the door and John greeted me with a hug. Amy walked into the living room.
“Um... hi” she said
“Hi” he answered suspiciously “who are you? Ghost, did you leave you door open again so that strangers can borrow your clothes?” he said sarcastically.
“No, John this is Amy she’s coming with us to the movies”
“Ok” he said and with that we went to the movies. The movie we were watching was terrible, it was one of those horror movies that are so predictable and lame, but Amy seemed to enjoy it. After the movie we went to get pizza and the whole time I felt like the 3rd wheel because John and Amy were flirting outrageously.
The next day I woke up with a pounding head ache and tried to think about what had happened the night before but all I could remember was alcohol until 12o’clock when I realised that John had gone home with Amy and left me to stumble home through a dangerous city at night. I was furious I had been after John for 10 years and she waltzed in and stole him from under my nose, I even remembered telling her I loved him. I saw red and couldn’t stop myself I ran out of my apartment and practically flew down the stairs and ran all the way to John’s apartment with the gun in my pocket.
I burst through the door gun pointed at them and before they could stop me I had fired it.
