ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Seventeen-year-old American girl who seeks definition through history. I like reading and, to a lesser extent, writing. Criticism valued more than praise; I might not appreciate the praise. [May 2002]

Glowing Caitlin Conaway
Glowing
I see you in your uniform
who could miss that look on your face?
everything was screwd up tight at the corners
(i could tell)
It was only in your Polar clothes that you were glorious
glowing face, peeking out from your wide-brimmed hat
who could miss the sheen on your skin?
the light in your smile. and the icebergs planted in your eyes?
You were happy there, only there,
because everything else was metal, stiff and wrong and
that gold braid was not your spirit.
That clean white sheet was your solace, spangled with stars,
who could have missed it?
