don't get cross with me, boy
it's a long way back from hell
and these voices in your head
are winning over your fear
you can hear something out there moving
and I can tell you when it's coming back
you can scream your dear heart out
but this is the base of reality
the distant chain gang
is pounding out a melody for you
get to them if you can
and maybe you can save everyone
but don't you feel the nagging
the lazy heat of terror in your chest
it is nothing but a warm glow to me
now I've been here such a long time
but long ago you crossed paths with angels
daggers of peace, too straight to accept
would you offer up your soul?
you were going too far down for that
your most hair-raising nightmares
melted into some treasured commemorative
of the time your sanity burst into a million insects
and came crawling to my feet
licking straight from the razor
didn't your tongue turn to poison?
it turned to something heartrending
to occupy your time and remains of your mind
the loose strings of concern
are in a knot in your hands
it's too late to wish you weren't here
the swamp is stirring
what kind of reptilian horrors
do you have hidden in the abyss?
all the torment you let go
still has ahold of you
you were simply dying for release
praying for a deaf ear
to hold against the toll of the demon's bells
the familiar voices beckoning you home
