It's Not All About Sex
Carla Thomson

I’m tired of guys seeing me as an object
A thing to fulfill their needs and desires
when I walk in a room filled with guys that don’t know me
They automatically assume that I’m sexually active
Most of them don’t believe it when I tell them that I’m not
And every guy that I’ve gone out with has always expected
Or has tried to pushed me into giving them something that I’m not willing to give
The reason for most separations is because I don’t want to do it
Even though I tell them I don’t want to have a sexual relationship with them
Before we start dating; they think they’re going to get me to do it anyway
but I have too much respect for myself to give in
Even though it may be a big temptation the cons overweigh the pros
I know that emotionally, mentally and foremost spiritually I’m not ready for sex
I want to save myself as much as I can for the one I’m going to spend the rest of my life with
I’ve don’t things in my past when I was walking in a life of sin
And all it made me feel was depression, frustration, emptiness, loneliness, and disgusted
I really wasn’t very happy, even though I had all the components of a good life in the eyes of the world
Even though I went through some hard times and I’ve done thing that I regret
I know that I’m who I am because I have experienced those things
It showed me different aspects of life and showed me different paths that I didn’t see before
It helps me understand certain situations a bit better and things that I might want to avoid
In that point of my life the worst thing that happened ended up being the best thing that happened
I regret and appreciate it all at the same time
I regret it because it’s something horrible
I appreciate it because it made me see how screwed up my life had become
Because of it I’ve changed my life around in a better direction
And I have way more respect for myself now
I feel more joy and happiness now than what I’ve felt in quite some time
And I feel that I’ve grown as a person and matured in many aspects of my life
Because of the dishonorable thing that happened
It caused me to do bigger and better things
