Light And Dark

Light and dark: so separate, so far.
Separated by a natural steel bar.
But one thing can make them merge,
One thing can make that bar converge.
The reel rolls, the lights go dark,
And in a few hours, this art will leave its mark.
The dust drifts in the path of the light,
And the numbers appear; dark and bright.
The slow ticks and tocks, the hums and flashes,
They show happiness and sadness, manners and crassness.
I see eyes and I see ears,
I see laughter and I see tears.
I see emotions that span a million years.
I see the birth of democracy,
I see love and intimacy.
The light brightens the vast field,
And now our emotions are now locked and sealed.
I see a character small, I see him big,
I see his life being hung on a rusting metal rig.
I see him bloom, I see him grow,
I see a life in this picture show.
The lights turn on, the crowd stands and leaves,
Back to their cars that are parked,
But they will never forget what they saw, in that light and dark.
