CHAPTER NINE

Hannah felt Jared tense as the first strains of music filled the bar and she peered up under his hat to find his dark gaze settled on her. She recognized the emotions streaking across his handsome face because she was fighting her own battle with those very same feelings. The other couples began dancing around them and Jared opened his arms to Hannah in silent question. He was leaving this decision up to her Hannah realized, and though it might be impulsive she wanted to feel the strength of those arms around her again. Without hesitation she stepped into the warmth of his embrace. They both groaned softly as their bodies touched from thigh to chest. Hannah’s arms found their way around Jared’s neck of their own volition and Jared’s hands rested against the small of Hannah’s back as if they were at home there.
Home. That’s what it felt like being in Jared’s arms. Just like she belonged there, had always belonged there, safe and secure. They began to dance slowly around the floor, their bodies moving in perfect rhythm. Hannah felt Jared watching her and she laid her cheek against his chest to avoid looking into his eyes, afraid of what he might see. She knew she wouldn’t be able to hide the desire she was feeling or disguise the fact her whole body was screaming for a release she was certain only Jared could give her.

Jared’s arms had tightened around Hannah when she’d rested her cheek on his chest. The sweet womanly scent of her filled his head and fueled his hunger. He closed his eyes and bent his head until his chin rested softly on the top of her head and Hannah’s fingers stroked the soft hair at the nape of his neck. Jared’s breathing became labored. His hands moved up to caress her back through the thin material of her tank top then glided slowly over the soft flare of her hips and down to cup her tight, jean clad bottom. He pulled her more snugly into his body and slipped a thigh between her legs knowing there would be no mistaking the extent of his arousal. He could feel her damp heat on his thigh and he knew he had to get them out of there. Jared unwound Hannah’s arms and taking her by the hand led her off the dance floor. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw an exit sign at the back of the bar since he didn’t relish the idea of wading through a crowd of people to get to the front door with his body in the state it was in.

Hannah was very conscious of Jared’s hand resting on the small of her back as he led her to the parked truck. Her breathing was heavy and the warmth of the night only intensified the heat radiating between their bodies. Jared opened the door on the driver’s side and Hannah slid in to the middle of the seat. Jared slipped in beside her, slammed and locked the door in one motion, then turned and pulled her into his arms. Hannah caught only a glimpse of his glittering black eyes before his mouth took hers. The kiss was rough, hot and carnal. Jared parted her lips with his tongue stroking in and out, a promise of things to come. Hannah groaned and melted into Jared, then did what she’d wanted to do all night. She reached up and pulled his cowboy hat off, burying her hands in his thick, soft hair. The only noise in the truck was the sound of their labored breathing and soft moans.
Hannah was in sensual overload, every sense heightened. Jared’s arms held her tight and his kiss made her mindless with need. His hand came around to gently caress her thigh before cupping her heat. Panting, Hannah broke the kiss and whispered, “Jared please, though she wasn’t sure if she was asking him to stop the sensual torture or put an end to the throbbing ache between her thighs.
Suddenly the back of the truck dipped as two cowboys loaded the kegs into the bed. Jared swore softly. Hannah moved slightly away from Jared thankful that the darkened cab had hidden them from prying eyes.

They drove several miles before either of them spoke. Jared had buckled Hannah in beside him rather than on the passenger’s side. He wasn’t ready for her to be that far away from him yet. He didn’t think he would ever be. She rode turned slightly toward him tucked under his arm, head on his shoulder, her hand resting lightly on his thigh. Jared wanted nothing more than to pull off the highway and take the edge off this desire gnawing at him and if he’d been with any number of other women wouldn’t have hesitated to do so. However, being with Hannah was different, and despite her uninhibited response, in his mind the question of her virginity was something he needed to explore.
Taking a calming breath and striving for a normal voice Jared asked softly, “Hannah, darlin’ are you…I mean have you ever been with a man?”
Hannah raised her head slightly and looked into Jared’s face. “Are you asking’ me if I’m a virgin Jared? Never taking his eyes off the road Jared nodded. Surprised, Hannah asked, “Why? Would that matter?
Jared shook his head and let out a long sigh, “No it wouldn’t matter. I intend to make love to you virgin or not. It’s just that if it were your first time I’d be more careful so I didn’t hurt you.
Tears stinging her eyes at his thoughtfulness Hannah again rested her head on his shoulder. “No Jared, I’m not a virgin, she said, somehow wishing she could tell him otherwise. She would love to be able to erase that first encounter and have Jared be her first lover.

Lost in thought, her hand caressing his upper thigh she continued, “It was my first year of college, my first time to really be on my own. I met this guy at a party and we began dating. Almost from the beginning he started pressuring me to have sex with him and after a few months I gave in. Then after that one time I never saw him again.”
Anger and an intense feeling of disgust welled up in Jared; anger at the boy who’d been so insensitive to Hannah and disgust at himself because he knew that at one time he’d been just like that boy.
Hannah’s caressing hand was coming perilously close to Jared’s manhood. Jared held his breath. She tilted her head up slightly so she could whisper in his ear, “No one’s ever made me feel the things you do Jared. Those feelings I had at sixteen are so much stronger and intense now. The back of her fingers brushed lightly over his straining cock and Jared gripped the steering wheel so tight his knuckles were white.
 “Jared I know I said that we should slow down but I feel…I mean I think…I need…”
Jared turned the truck down a dirt road, the tires spinning in the gravel as he gunned the engine. He finally came to a stop well off the side of the road under a towering oak tree. The night had become cloudy. There was no light from the moon. This road was rarely used and never at night. There would be no one to see. Jared unbuckled both their seatbelts then turned Hannah so that she reclined on the seat, the upper part of her body across his lap. He had her tank top and bra off in record time and while feasting on her breasts managed to unfasten her jeans as well. He was so far gone he was only vaguely aware of Hannah’s moans. He slid his hand down her flat stomach and through the soft curls at the apex of her thighs then he touched her where she needed it most and this time it was Jared who moaned.
