AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (17) A Foreign War (Songs) A song I wrote about a relationship I was in. [92 words] [Relationships] A Lost Conscience (Poetry) I recently had a bit of drama in my life. I ended up sleeping with a girl that my best friend really liked. I know, not good. But I think it help explains the poem. Any feedback is really appreciated. [173 words] A Midnight Journey (Poetry) I wrote this poem after getting lost in the woods while camping. It ended up kinda as an allusion to death too. By the way, try not to drink and wander. [131 words] [Mind] A Simple Night (Poetry) I wrote this about when you're in a fight or broken up in a relationship and you know it is time to go back. I guess just read. [126 words] [Relationships] By My Soul (Songs) This is a song I wrote about being swept away by the girl of my dreams... only a dream though. [229 words] [Romance] Castles (Foreign) We place these castles on the wall. Never thought they’d crumble, never thought they’d fall. [191 words] [Relationships] Dressed In Black (Poetry) I started this one out as a song and changed it around into a poem. I guess it was just a compilation of feelings I get when being with that special person. [155 words] [Romance] I Killed Her (Poetry) A short poem I wrote about screwing up a relationship. [64 words] [Relationships] On Her Knees (Always) (Songs) A song about having patience in and after a relationship. [146 words] [Relationships] Rise And Fall (Poetry) This is just a poem I wrote about the ups and downs of love. You know you want to r/r. [106 words] [Romance] Second Thought (Poetry) A poem about not having the courage to talk to someone you see... and the regret that follows. [109 words] [Romance] Seventeen (Songs) Song about the past. [121 words] [Mind] The Gambler (Poetry) Not sure why I wrote about this... I don't gamble much. Love & Hate Eric Richards
I hear the bitterness scratching inside
Feel my hunger breaking in stride
I want to touch this darkness
I want to give you all that my conscience hides
Trust me not to take you to my edge
Fear me because I’ve fallen so many times
It’s all been for the days I’ve lived, the ways I’ve lived
Every day I give in, another dream I’ve sold
Another weakness you could hold
Just something you could fold inside your hands
And now that I know, I can’t help but follow
I need your future because my past is shallow
I want to fill myself with you because I ‘m hollow
Don’t try to tell me I’m bitter, because I bit down on
Every word that could have changed your mind
Held on to each moment like a break in our twisted rhyme
I am always here waiting for you to recite your lines
Trapped in a circle of memories that are only mine
Here I drift in this oblivion, in this sea that never sleeps
Drowning in the depths of all my passion, doubting all I believe
I held you when you turned away, I loved you when you turned away,
Even when your love for me burned away,
In a way you will never know, but I know it when I scream at night,
A lost voice that seems to deny, the strength it needs to fight
Cause, of you I dream, in spite of my spite
And the pain of your face, still I strain to taste you
Could, this guilt, you face
Could you admit you have broken me
Dare to drink the pain I hold within me
As I stand here longing for the fire you have stolen from me
Can I accept what is now my fate, find the will to survive in this frozen state
This feeling can not rest, perhaps for me it’s too late
Cause now, my love, my love has become hate

"*****Wow, this was awesome, seriously. I loved every single word that you used, it's very emotional and well written. I especially liked these 2 lines: In a way you will never know, but I know it when I scream at night, A lost voice that seems to deny, the strength it needs to fight. I dunno, I just really liked this, dark poems are my favorite to read and write. " -- d donely.
"Wow. Love this! I think you mean "accept" and not "except" in the 3rd to the last line though... Write on!" -- Tessa.
"Thanks for the reviews guys. I almost didn't post this one, it is pretty personal. It sure is accept instead of except. Thanks for the editing. " -- Eric Richards.
"Strange how we turn something as beautiful as love into something as ugly as hate...but an acceptable survival technique! But we remain fools for love... aren't we all? I can't imagine how to write what is NOT "personal" Glad you posted. Really liked this " -- mattie.
"I have to say out of all the deep and dark poems Ive read this one touched closer to home..I enjoyed every line and I think your awesome!" -- Mandy , springville, tn, usa.
