Love Is Blind

I'll love you always, he said,
as he stroked the bloody matted hair on her head,
then kissed her eyes, with that vacant stare,
staring out at nothing, as if no one were there.
He'd been honest with her,
right from the start,
about matters of the flesh, and of the heart,
had warned her of his intentions,
whether right or wrong,
his love for her blind,
his heart just as strong.
As he entered her one more time,
her flesh cold as ice,
he whispered into her ear, some friendly advice,
always remember, love is the biggest lie of all,
just like graffitti sprayed on a wall.
As he came within her one more time,
he held her hand,
knowing within her heart, she would understand.
LOve to him could be cruel,
or it could be kind,
but most of all, it was always blind.
