Me
Kirsten McManus

I'm not the little girl
Who cries at a banged up knee;
I'm not the little child
Who claims what she really didn't see.
I'm not the little angel
That you tucked into bed,
And I'm not the little princess
That you bragged about back then.
I'm not your little "Love Bug,"
Or "Bubbles," "Bub," or "K;"
I'm not your little bookworm
Who will always get straight A's.

I am your grown-up child,
Someone who's seen the pain;
I am your teenage daughter,
And I regret the mistakes I've made.
I am the social butterfly
You sometimes don't wish to know,
And I am your little stardust
Who changes with the blow.
I am a little sinner
Just like everyone else, you see.
But just because I'm not young anymore
Doesn't mean that I'm not free.
