Montana
In the Big Sky country Foot-worn on a hill above that empty interstate Enveloped in a sphere of air and spirit, Seeming miles above the Stretched-Wide.
Empty Eden, below the Blameless distant clouds you are Earth’s end at the feet. Clear
Eyes open wider in that peace-pure air Skies open wider, tears fall, Montana. So Vast that, stumbling from the rise,
The harmless foot-length rattlesnake strikes Knee-high boots, the ankle tap so light that Seconds pass before it’s known writhing life.
