No Title For This One Joseph Robert Herrick
Avery rocked back and forth in his chair.
He was thinking of years past when his wrinkles were less noticeable and his hands were more mobile.
In his head he was reliving the night his wife left him. Twenty years ago tomorrow. His eyes saw the last picture they had taken together, so happy, so in love…but that was ages ago and he knew she had lost those feelings long before she willingly lost him. He wondered how he would feel when he woke up in the morning, knowing the history of the bed they shared, that he still slept in. But more so he worried how his tears would react when he saw her sleek red dress peeking through his fuzzy plaid shirts from the back of the closet.
He had strategically placed the mothballed garments foremost to his view in order to shield the memory of her. As his hand reached for his old brown plaid, something inside him made it keep going. His fingers feebly gripped the white hanger and dragged the vibrant remembrance toward himself. His feet began to shuffle and his arms softly held her garment as he regained his once fluid rhythm. They swirled over the crème colored carpet going faster and faster, the memories becoming more and more vivid until finally...
A single tear fell from his eye as he looked, aching, at the twisted red pile now lying on the bottom of the trash can.

"NO REVIEW FOR THIS ONE. None really necessary, except that it is a poor story (no use of immediate scenes), but an excellent narrative (sharing of information). Some writers confuse narrative and story, but in a short-short such as this you have a license to get away with it.--The Advisor" -- JA St.George.
