Oh What A Dream! Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin Ii
in my small workshop
lay my tools of craft –
the virgin wood, the hammer, the saws with
my devoted chisel.
sharpened it was - ready was it
like the pen of the ready writer.
the furniture design and her dimensions, the beech wood –
my plan was to chisel a winning compendium.
cutting commenced!
the ripsaw cut out the outline; coping saw, the prototype.
i chiseled on.
the joints fitted excellently with coherence screw
as knitted as an Achebe compendium they were
the flint of the sandpaper raised dust
my eyes shut in pains as i made to remove the devil.
unclosed my eyelids –
“yeepa!” not in my small workshop i was!
on the bench of anticipation i lay.
“of making many books there is no end.”
i sealed my eyes all over till morn knocked.
