On And Offf Patrick Collins
On and off, light and dark;
I see that this time has left a mark.
This mark shall never fade, but it will never be clear,
But I hope that this goes the way that is opposite of my fear.
When the light is on, it shines brighter then all the stars and the moon together.
Its comfort is as soft as a bird’s finest feather.
But when unknown hands flip if off, all the darkness ensues,
And I captain of a mighty ship, who is missing his crew.
My ship sets sail, doomed by his missing men,
I feel I will surely dies but then…
The light is returned, and my path is laid out before me,
And all for which I was once blind, I am now able to see.
Perhaps someday this all will make sense,
All of this confusion will jump the fence.
But until that days comes, one thing shall remain,
One thing is still here, and will leave again.
This thing is permanent, this thing is certain,
And it will remain, until someone pulls back the curtain.
And even though to this problem I scoff,
It will continue it’s cycle,
On and off.
