One Of My Prayers

God, why do I feel so lonely?
I’ve got all my friends by me.
Why do I want a guy beside me?
Whenever I’m with a guy I end up getting hurt.
God, why do I want guys to be close to me?
I’m afraid I’ll go too far again
I’m afraid I’ll leave you behind me
You know I don’t want that, not again
God, all I can say is why.
Why does my body tell me one thing and my mind another?
God, I know you’re beside me,
I know you’re watching over me.
I know you would never hurt me, you are my father
God, without you I feel so lost,
I can’t live without you
Lord, can you send to me someone I can hold
Someone who would respect me
Someone who will love me
Someone that I can trust
Someone who wouldn’t hurt me
Someone who wouldn’t want more than just a simple kiss
Lord I know I need to work on my patients
But sometimes my heart feels like it’s ripped in two
And well, another part of me doesn’t think that I’m ready for anyone,
That it’s still too soon.
But that same side of me also longs for someone who will hold me,
To tell me that everything’s going to be ok, that I don’t have to worry about it anymore,
Because I’m with him and he’ll keep me safe.
Lord, someone who wouldn’t mind me just crying in his arms till all the pain has gone away.
God, I know I’m still young, but young isn’t always bad.
But still, a part of me wants to be single for a few years longer,
To have my freedom for a little while yet.
I just don’t’ want to be lonely
I don’t want to feel empty
God, please fill in all the holes inside of me.
God, when I’m with you I don’t need a man beside me.
Though, I still would like one to be here with me.
