ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
A 22 year old college senior, I finally started writing a little over a year ago, just because I suddenly found I had a very insistent Muse. My goal?? World Peace... Yeah, I know, I know... but I think it might be a nice change of pace. Don't you? [April 2002]
AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (4) Making Connections (Short Stories) Ever thought about where you would go if you killed yourself, what it would be like? Ever wonder why it is we are on the internet and on the chat channels so much? What do we expect and hope to find... [7,087 words] [Fantasy] Rock 'n Rollers Ball (Poetry) I wrote this for my Dad, in response to his constant despair at the "depth" of current music, and also for a friend of mine on the internet who knows about as many of the old songs as I do. There's s... [388 words] [Humor] The Old Horse (Short Stories) I wrote this one for my Dad and Arnold Palmer, believe it or not. Every year I would watch the U.S. Open with Dad and he would say, "God...I wish for just 4 days Arnold Palmer could have his old skil... [1,915 words] [Motivational] Where Does My Heart Go From Here? (Short Stories) It is my belief that John Donne's "No man is an island" dictum is 180 degrees wrong. Sometimes She Writes Joan Bentley
She sits down at her keyboard,
Her fingers set to keys,
To write the things that come to her,
Her only aim to please
her avid fans.
She hopes that they are avid,
Just happy that they read,
She always tries her very best
To give them food to feed
their hungry minds.
Sometimes they come unbidden.
Sometimes she has to "pry".
Sometimes she simply wants to laugh.
Sometimes she wants to cry
for lovers lost.
Sometimes the words elude her,
Of things she wants to share.
Sometimes they pour like misty rain,
That falls without a care
on broken dreams.
She likes to be creative,
To give them something new.
But oftimes strolls down memory's lane;
The oldies, tried and true
and very dear.
She writes for many reasons,
Some selfish, some "divine".
She hopes that they all read her words.
She hopes they find them fine
to listen to.
If THEY say that they like them,
It makes her feel so good.
It makes her want to write again,
Although she knows she should
not bother them.
But her heart fills up with things,
She really needs to say,
To the wondrous, perfect people,
Who get her through the day
and nighttime, too.
So she taps the keys and writes,
The things that fill her heart.
And hopes that though she's known them long,
That this is just the start
of something grand.
