Rae
so maybe you've got all you want
and life is frying eggs and making ice
and maybe you're all set
cutting your problems into little bites
'cause some things are good to chew
but mostly I swallow whole
not because I'm a bad person
but because that's all I know
we rearrange ourselves
to gain access to what we like best
we go through the sweat and the pain
we put up with the pests
just to get to this
where I'm falling down the same spiral
there are the same heart-piercing views
the same feelings unrivaled
I never mistook ignorance for bliss
I had my nose in everything
and if I had known it'd end like this...
well, I would have removed myself from everything
so I'm glad that you are well
and can't find time for the past
I, myself, don't live here either
I just remember what happened last
frozen in the air
so I can come back and caress them
are the words I can recall
and the way that I don't miss them
it's such bullshit when they tell you
that time heals all your pain
but it's true that time detaches you
and you simply can't feel the same
I know it's not what I wanted anyway
I know it was all insanity
I can sigh and be morose
but I know I still have the best of me
