The Evil Root

The whole family is together.
Christmas is winding down with discarded cards, wrapping paper
and a turkey carcass, the only links to a holiday that comes and goes
like a summer lightning storm.
Everyone is saying their goodbyes and thank yous for the
gifts they received that they secretly abhorred and can't
wait to sell on E-Bay.
The Father tells each of the children that they will be
receiving a very substantial amount of cash before the
end of the year.
The children try to hide their excitement, while visions of
new houses, cars, boats and summer retreats dance in their heads.
The Mother turns into Lucifer.
"Take whatever you want from this house, go on, take the fucking Snowman,
take the goddam lights, take anything you want".
Quiet
Tension
Nothing had prepared these children for seeing their
fun-loving happy go lucky mother show the first signs
of Alzheimers
and there wasn't a damn thing they could do about it.
The Root of all Evil brought forth a worse monster
It's friend the Thief of Minds.
