The Garden Of Edenia--Chapter Nine--Edie

When she reached the newly old secret place which just the day before belonged to both her and Christina, but now only to her, Serena crumpled into a heap and began to cry. A soft hand surprised her and she jumped up, ready to provide a defense for why she was out there. However, it was a beautiful teenage girl she had never met before.
“Serena, my love, what is wrong?” The girl inquired compassionately.
“Who the fuck are you?” Serena yelled out of unadulterated anguish.
“It’s okay. I’m Edenia, but you can call me Edie. I’ve been following you for quite some time.”
“Oh, so you’re a stalker? Great. I’m out here with a stalker and my ex-best friend thinks I’m a lesbian…” Serena’s voice began to break and she faltered. “I loved her and she broke my heart. She is probably going to go out with Devon, whom I also liked. A lot. And you’re most likely gonna kill me…”
“Oh, my dear, I would never harm you. You are my Beloved.”
Serena’s head snapped up in disbelief. “What did you just say?”
“I said that you are my Beloved. It means that from birth, we were destined to be soul mates. I know this may come as a shock to you, and may seem like rubbish, but we are. That simply is.”
“So, Edenia, what’s all this about being soul mates? I am no one’s beloved, girl. I had one person I loved, and that totally fell through. A-”
“You don’t have to love me, or even like me, Serena. I just thought I would let you know, so that if you ever need me, just call on me and I’ll be there.”
“Oh, like the song, yeah?” Serena laughed.
“What song?” Edie asked, truly perplexed.
“Are you home schooled?”
“I was, but no longer. I took a leave of absence from my parents’ home to explore the world. I know much more than I used to, believe me, but I didn’t really want to catch up on the pop culture.”
“That’s an old song, but that is also way beside the point. I have to get to class.” Something inside Serena suddenly stirred, and she spouted, “I’ll meet you here tomorrow, same time, okay?” Whoa, where did that come from?
Edie smiled knowingly and nodded. “Alright. Take care of yourself ‘til then.”
Again, the feeling inside Serena fluttered up, and she realized it as attraction. Shit, I’m attracted to my Beloved stalker? Just perfect. Well… she doesn’t look all that bad, and she seems awfully nice. Almost too nice, except for the fact that she is claiming to be my soul mate. Crazy? Maybe. Ooh, I need to shut up!
For the second time, Edie, standing there shyly all of a sudden, grinned meaningfully and bobbed her head.
“Why do you keep smirking like that, and nodding? It’s creepy.” Serena glared at her.
“Do you really want to know? And I’m not smirking!”
“Yeah, I really want to know!”
Edie sighed. “I’m a sanguinarian vampire. I can feed off of blood or people’s psychic energy. When you were thinking just now, I heard every word… well, at least, thought… felt… well, anyway,” Edie, shy once more, wavered, “I picked up on your thoughts. I-“
“RUN!”
