Tess sat the bus staring out the window, she wondered if Kevin would be there again. She sighed deeply, Kevin the only true friend she ever had. She had reasons though like Kevin. They were different to everyone else. No one could ever understand. Yet though she and Kevin had things in common there was much difference about them. She lived in a house, she had loving parents, she had everything and anything she could ever want. Kevin lived on the streets, gaining cash wherever he could; he had no house, no family that truly loved him. The bus rounded the final corner before her stop, the anticipation was killing her. Would Kevin be there, or would he be off somewhere she could never know. Finally her stop came into site. And yes! There leaning against a wall smoking a cigarette was Kevin. Her face lit up in pure happiness, but she clouded it away before he noticed. Tess hurried off the bus, and walked over to Kevin he joined step with her and they walked along silently for a moment before Tess asked casually 'so.. When are you next going to go off kev?’ he was silent for a moment then he said 'Well that’s why I came, you see I got a job at the post office. Delivery boy. I know it don’t pay much but its better than nothing.’ 'But Kevin!' exclaimed Tess 'you can always borrow money off me!’ Kevin shuffled his feet awkwardly; Tess knew he found it hard to borrow money from her. They continued to walk on in silence the park lay up ahead. From where they were the two could hear shouts and drunken laughter. When the came close enough they saw four men about eighteen surrounding a girl of about sixteen. They were all calling out to her. Saying stuff like "Hey baby, common, come for a ride" and "give usa kiss", Kevin frowned in disgust. The girl just sat on a bench ignoring them and starring out at the park. Tess could almost feel Kevin’s anger bubbling up inside him. She knew he hated seeing people being picked on, because that had been him earlier in his life. Finally he snapped and stormed over to the men and shouted 'Why don’t you just bloody leave her alone!' one man sneered and said 'oh whose gonna stop us, you and your little girlfriend!?' Suddenly as if a gun had gone off the girl leapt from the bench and ran off into the bush in the park. The man shouted out after her. 'We'll get you soon babe!' then turned and walked off. Kevin watched them leave, and seemed to have completely forgotten about the girl until Tess asked him should they look for her. The two wondered around the park until finally near the lake lying against a tree sat the girl. She was huddled tight into a ball. Her clothes worn and dirty. Blood dripped from he side and a knife was lodged in her...
