The Round Dams

We are trapped inside; we cannot escape.
We are locked in, never to see a green landscape.
We will do anything to be free,
But our efforts just keep us paying this heavy fee
We twist, we bend, and we distort,
And we will remain in this prison, with no date in court.
We gnaw, we pinch, and we stab.
But the wounds we cause never heal, not with any scab.
Our army of waters struggles to break free,
But the two round dams, shall never let forth their sworn enemy.
We shall poke and prod, and squeeze through as much as we can,
But the dams have been it clear; that for us they have a strict ban.
When will they open, when shall we be set free?
When will the rot of our waters be drained from thee?
They have never opened, not in past or present years,
And because of this, the thought of our freedom brings nothing but great fears.
We have not gotten through, not with a single grain,
When will this pool be set fro, whence will go this pain?
