ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Who me? Born in 1962. Wrote prolifically as a teenager, heavily influenced by books & the music of the time. Stopped writing for 20 years more or less. But started again... Some of the work here dates from the "early period" - 1979-1982. The rest is since 2000. I`ve no idea whether I`m a better writer now or then. Maybe I was never any good! I`ve always wondered. Feedback most welcome...
I've not visited this site at all since January 2006 as I shortly after discovered the unfettred joys of blogging. I'm still writing and actually had a very good summer of writing. I'm posting a recent poem here now but all my recent work is available on my blog - take a look - http://peter-rivendell-poems.blogspot.com/
[December 2006]

The Trees (Control) Peter Rivendell
The trees are breathing acid
Marching slowly down to die
Some kind of reorganisation
To conquer fire and survive
Some kind of hesitant forewarning
New age pistol to the head
Another reckoning of values
Someone`s story to be read
It`s just minority expansion
At the expense of all the rest
It`s just one-sided propaganda
A call to arms for what is best
Another handbook for survival
Manipulation of the flood
Exchange of blows across wasteland
Barbed wire backing to the blood
A new horizon hangs before us
Check the scenery they send
Supply of answers to our questions
Will buy some silence in the end
Who knew such chaos would be anchored
To a plan that no one`s read
Lack of control was all predicted
Control is in their hands instead
It`s the definitive illusion
The riots all accord to plan
A new excuse for harsher measures
Myopic games that we began
New visions of reality
Unite the conquered and the crushed
Under the banner of authority
Another textbook sideways thrust
A new progression for the century
A tree to plant for better times
Can you breathe through all the energy
Or recall the chanted lines?

"I'd work on the rythm and maybe the structure too. It sounds like it's being said without breeding. I believe you could do better without the crossed ryhm scheme (the easy way arround) in the end of the poem. On balance, I'd say it's still a good poem - considering what is said, instead of how it's said. Let your poems breed and maybe they'll fly." -- sarrabisco.
"the rythm isn't important it's the sensation!" -- lori-ann.
"you definitely have a way with words and you master the language, have you tried submitting your stuff for anthologies? i think you would do really well." -- Daniel.
